Endangerment Reasons
Climate: The loss of ice is the biggest threat to
the survival of polar bears. Ice is important because polar bears hunt on the ice. without it they can not hunt very well. Without being able to get food the bears can get sick or starve to death. this can also lead to low reproduction
rates.
Pollution: If the polar bears eat food that has
pollutants in it, it can affect the cubs. Some of the pollutants found in the arctic are heat resistant chemicals, Industrial products such as dioxins and furans.pesticides like DDT, dieldrin and lindane are also found.
Oil and Gas: If a polar bear gets in contact with an oil spill, it can affect how much their fur keeps them warm. They can also be poisoned by oil. If they lick their fur that has oil on it or eats pray that was in contact with oil. They can be harmed
greatly. Oil production disturbs the polar bears environment. Oil leaks will
destroy their habitats also.
